Re: rolfing
Wowdude, rolfing is a method of systematically manipulating the body and educating both the body and mind. The intent is to bring greater order and balance to the body's structure by realigning the soft tissue which supports the muscle. It is a hands-on, deep massage which is not painful and works wonders for knots in shoulders as well as less-than- optimal posture. I went through my first series of ten sessions about ten years ago; my rolfer was a massage therapist who went back to school to get certified in rolfing (Dr. Ida Rolf started this; the school is in Boulder). She moved to Seattle and I now go to a rolfer who has been rolfing for the last 20 plus years. I usually get a "tune-up" about 2-3 times per year, usually to fix mishaps (turned ankle; gain/ loss of weight). Now I'm going about every 2 months because I'm training in competitive body building and want to stay balanced. Let me know other questions; I'd be glad to answer. Denni.
