Dear Sonia:

You wanted to know about my pre-pallidotomy symptoms. Everything on the menu
except bad tremor would describe it succintly. My "therapeutic window" had
effectively slammed shut.  Without Sinemet, I could hardly move, even sitting in
a chair was hell - about all I could manage was lying flat on my back. I was
really good at that. With Sinemet, during my 45 minute long "ON" periods, I was
flailing like, well, a flail. Bad diskynesias, arms , legs etc. It's kind of
hard to believe, in retrospect, what my family had to put up with. They were
terrific the entire time, even though I would become somewhat cranky, on
occasion.
