Re: apoptosis
Dear Abaraham, My wife had been hallucinating badly and it was getting worse. Clozaril wassuggested by her neurologist, but he was concerned that the side effects, one of which was low blood pressure, would aggravate her already low blood pressure. Hetried respiridol, but htat aggravated the hallucinations. Then Zofran (ondansitrton) was tried but it had no affect. Finally Clozaril was strongly recommended by the Drs. at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC after a few visits where we went for evaluation. They said that the side effects were manageable. This encouraged our neurologist to prescribe Clozaril(clozapine). Her hallucinations have almost disappeared. Even her PD symptoms have been reduced. She now sleeps much better. Her appetite has returned. Whetherher reaction is normal or is relative to the types of PD symptoms that she has is questionable. Her PD symptoms are not "classic". In addition to the slowing of movement, she had trouble swallowing and had severe burning sensations at various places in her body. She does not have "frezzing" or extreme dyskinesia. I would suggest that you talk to your neurologist about using Clozaril. Good luck! Irving_Williams@xxxxxxxx
