Just because something comes from an obscure source doesn't automatically mean it should be doubted, BUT extra caution is advisable. After all, some "maverick" developments (Eldepryl comes to mind) eventually become accepted as "mainstream". People who lack professional background but are anxious to sieze on any information they can get, may not appreciate the rigorous standards of established sources, and are more vulnerable to false hope.
